Social Bookmarking is Way Cool

I had created my own account on Delicious before this class because I wanted a way to carry my Favorites folders with me anywhere. I absolutely love being able to keep my favorite web sites together in a searchable format for easy access and use. I also like the idea of creating multiple accounts in Delicious to correspond to my various information needs, i.e work interests vs. personal interests. I find Delicious fairly easy to use--tagging was a challenge at first, but I soon got into the swing of it. The popularity of tags or web sites are pretty easy to spot with the People counts and bold-faced type in the Cloud view.

I had never thought of creating a social bookmarking account for my library and making it a tool for librarians to share commonly used web sites. I think Dykes did a great job with putting theirs together.

I’d like to investigate the use of Delicious and other social bookmarking software like CiteULike, as a way for librarians, physicians, and researchers to work together on projects. I am wondering if it can substitute for a program like RefWorks or Endnotes… Not sure how they compare?

OK, I thought I left a comment for you but obviously leaving comments seems to be the most difficult thing for me! I wrote that I also was thinking about bookmarking as a tool like EndNotes. And it is free!
